Lạc Long: Vietnamese Pure Agarwood Incense

Lạc Long: Vietnamese Pure Agarwood Incense

There are days when the air calls for quiet. A moment not filled with noise, but with space—still and hushed, like a bowl of cool water left by the windowsill. Today was one of those days. I opened the window a little and the early light crept in, filtered through leaves just beginning to soften with the season. I lit a stick of Lạc Long.

It doesn’t rush. The smoke is fine, almost imperceptible at first, until it swells into something steady and low—a slow ribbon of scent rising from the ember’s edge. This is incense that doesn’t perform. It simply is. Made from pure Vietnamese agarwood, its fragrance is dry and woody, with the quiet sweetness of earth left undisturbed for years. There’s a whisper of the forest floor here, the warmth of a tree’s core, something ancient and meditative.

The name Lạc Long was chosen with care. In Vietnamese mythology, Lạc Long Quân is a dragon lord of the sea, a being of legend and reverence. There’s something fitting in that—the way this incense drifts like mist over water, deep and full of presence. It’s not an everyday incense. It’s the one you reach for when the house is still and your tea has gone cold because you’ve been staring out the window too long, lost in the sound of your own breath.

Bound together with a touch of litsea gum and nothing more, each stick is slender, almost fragile to the touch. They burn with a quiet elegance that speaks to their purity. No perfume, no oil, no colour. Just the slow, resinous burn of carefully farmed agarwood, sustainably grown on family land in Vietnam.

It arrives tucked in a smooth rosewood tube, 40 delicate sticks resting inside, protected like small treasures. The tube itself feels like an heirloom—polished, warm, with just enough weight in the hand to suggest that what it holds is something worth savouring.

This is incense not for filling the room, but for changing its soul. For early mornings with nothing but a notebook and a pot of green tea. For evenings when you need to remember who you are without saying a word. For moments when you want scent to be a companion, not a statement.

Lạc Long is more than incense. It’s a pause in the day. A breath. A soft unfolding of time.
